Dallas Wings players Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd said in a podcast appearance that their romantic relationship ended before they joined the team together.
Bueckers said on Fudd's "Fudd Around & Find Out" podcast that the two broke up over a year ago. She said they wanted to share this because fans had asked how they would work as teammates. Bueckers said Fudd was drafted because she deserved it, not because of the relationship, and that the two are still friends. The pair also showed a new handshake, which Bueckers said her teammates helped create.
The Wings picked Fudd first overall in the 2026 WNBA Draft. Bueckers was the first overall pick in the 2025 draft. The two went public with their relationship in 2025 and played together at UConn for four seasons. The team did not allow reporters to ask about the relationship when Fudd was drafted in April.
