Early voting in Taylor County ran between the turnout of the previous two midterm elections before picking up in the final days, Elections Administrator Daniel Murray said. He said the county has now passed its 2018 numbers.

In Taylor County, 33.73% of registered voters cast ballots during early voting this year. That compares with 28.98% in 2022 and 32.58% in 2018, the previous two midterm elections.

Murray said the county worked to inform voters about voting procedures, including limited and provisional ballots, and thanked staff and poll workers. He said about 100 to 125 poll workers were working on Election Day.

Across Texas, more than 7.4 million people cast early ballots, according to preliminary figures from the Texas secretary of state's office. Voters still in line at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, will be able to vote, Murray said.
