Two pilots of a U.S. Air Force T-6A Texan II ejected successfully near C.R. 444 in rural eastern Wilson County on Oct. 22. The aircraft had unsafe landing gear issues before the ejection, the story said. The area is near the county lines with Gonzales and Guadalupe counties.
Kaylee Oliver and her family watched the incident from their front porch around 5:30 p.m. Oliver said they heard a loud boom, saw two orange parachutes and saw the plane descend into a treeline. The family called 911. They searched their property and nearby woods but did not find the pilots or the plane. Oliver said emergency crews and deputies were in the area when they returned home.
Around 8 p.m. that day, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph issued a press release saying the two pilots had successfully ejected from a T-6A Texan II "near Seguin." According to the military, the pilots are with the 12th Flying Training Wing.
