Tesla's autonomous Robotaxi rideshare service began in Fort Worth at 6 a.m. on Nov. 2, according to a post on social media. Fort Worth is the seventh city to get the service. A map posted online shows rides are available in downtown Fort Worth and much of the north, south and west sides of the city. Service in east Fort Worth is limited, according to the map.
A Fort Worth Report reporter booked a ride from the Near Southside District to a downtown restaurant. The trip took about 15 minutes during midday traffic. The app first canceled the ride, the reporter said, and then charged the reporter's credit card $8.98 three times for the one trip.
Tesla also runs Robotaxi service in Dallas, Austin and Houston, and in Miami, Orlando and Tampa, Florida. The company plans to launch in San Antonio, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Jacksonville, Florida. Riders must download the Robotaxi app, which works on iOS and Android devices, and can log in with an existing Tesla account.
