Angelina Pediatrics is merging with HOPE Community Medicine on Monday. The clinic will be called Angelina Pediatrics, a HOPE Community Medicine Clinic. HOPE is a federally funded nonprofit whose mission is that no one is denied care because of ability to pay.

Dr. Jeff Glass, medical director of Angelina Pediatrics, said the clinic is defined by its staff rather than its name or building. He said the merger will allow the clinic to see children with all types of Medicaid and private-pay patients on a sliding scale. Patients will also have access to HOPE's mental health services and can get prescriptions from HOPE's pharmacy at reduced or no cost.

Glass said only the name is changing. He said patients will keep seeing the same staff, nurse practitioners and medical director. He said the merger will bring more services to children in deep East Texas, not only in Lufkin.
