Police are investigating the death of a woman found in an apartment in southeast Houston on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were called to the scene on Broadway Street, south of Bellfort Avenue, around 5 p.m.
According to police, the woman's friend had not heard from her for several days. The friend went to check on her and found her dead. Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma. They said the way the body was found was suspicious, so the homicide unit responded to investigate. Police did not say what made the death seem suspicious.
The woman has not been identified. It is unclear how or when she died. The medical examiner will make those determinations.
