The Pampa Lady Harvesters open the 2026–2027 basketball season Saturday against the Bushland Lady Falcons. The team played scrimmages against Claude, Wellington and Sunray during the preseason.
Head coach Clint Watson said the team is working on an aggressive, up-tempo style built on defensive pressure, rebounding and effort. Watson said Claude and Wellington are both ranked in the top 15 in their classifications. Claude is a Class 1A program and Wellington is a Class 2A program. Watson said Wellington reached the regional final last season and Claude is projected to win its district.
Watson said the team has been crashing the glass hard and pursuing the ball. He said the Lady Harvesters need to rotate and trap better on defense and move their feet more. Watson said the team caused several turnovers in Tuesday's scrimmage by using multiple defensive looks, which he plans to use throughout the season because of the team's lack of height.
