Ayaan Moledina, an 18-year-old first-generation American Muslim, was elected to the Round Rock Independent School District board for Place 3. The Texas Scorecard report said he ran on a platform of keeping "political and religious interference out of public school classrooms." Moledina is the child of Pakistani immigrants, according to the report.

His policy platform says he plans to protect DEI programs, including "affinity groups like Black Student Unions and Gender Sexuality Alliances." It also calls for keeping "religion out of our classrooms" and limiting "the use of student restraint practices." According to reports cited in the story, Moledina met the age requirement for the ballot by "just a few days."

His website lists endorsements from The School Board Project, which describes itself as "here to support progressive school board candidates," as well as CAIR Action Texas and Emgage Action Texas. U.S. Reps. Greg Casar (D-Austin) and Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) also endorsed him, the report said.
