United Way of Orange County held the Orange United Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the J. Michael and Bridget Shahan Events Center at Lamar State College Orange. The event brought together nonprofit staff, board members, volunteers and community partners.

The day included sessions on leadership, board governance, artificial intelligence, grant writing, marketing and branding, and volunteer engagement. Speakers listed included Roxanne Jones of United Ways of Texas, Chris Cheetham-West and Dr. Colton Strawser. Attendees could also connect with the SETX Volunteer Portal and the SETX Nonprofit Development Center.

Maureen McAllister, president and CEO of United Way of Orange County, said the first conference was "everything we hoped it would be and more." She said the connections made during the day were just as important as the presentations. McAllister said the event was designed to support nonprofits and strengthen the community.
