The Ozona Stockman's history column reprinted items from 1926, 1936, 1946, 1966 and 1976. In 1926, W.D. Barton of San Angelo was named manager of the planned Ozona Hardware Co., to open in the new Perner building then under construction.
In 1946, Ozona's Community Council launched a long-range plan to beautify the downtown city park. The plan called for removing dead and dying mulberry trees that fall, possibly adding pecan trees, adding fresh soil and a sprinkler system, and planting St. Augustine grass the next spring.
In 1966, B.G. Billbrey, a local oilfield driller, was recovering at Crockett County Hospital after his rifle jammed while he was preparing for deer season. He accidentally shot himself in the upper thigh, the paper reported. In 1976, Cliff McMullan and Carmen Delgado received Gold Star awards at the county 4-H awards night, and Max Schroeder received the Mother Davidson award.
