Research by a recent Sul Ross State University graduate and a former faculty member has been published in a peer-reviewed journal, the university said. Anna Campos, who graduated in 2025 with a kinesiology degree, co-wrote the study with Julianna M. Dean, a former assistant professor and kinesiology coordinator at the university.

The study looks at muscle oxygen saturation during floor exercise among female collegiate gymnasts. It was published in 2026 in the International Journal of Exercise Science, Volume 19, Issue 6. Campos conducted the work as a McNair Scholar, a program that supports undergraduate research and prepares students for graduate study. She presented the study in 2024 at the International Conference on Sports Science Research and Technology in Porto, Portugal.

After graduating, Campos passed the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation athletic trainer licensure exam and became a licensed athletic trainer. She works with Sul Ross athletic teams.
