Brazos County is still counting ballots after Election Day. Elections Administrator Trudy Hancock said the county has 164 mail-in ballots and about 150 provisional ballots to review. Military and overseas ballots can arrive until 5 p.m. Monday.

Unofficial results show Democrat Janet Dudding leading Republican Paul Dyson by 315 votes. Dudding has 30,780 votes (49%), and Dyson has 30,465 (48.5%).

In Single Member District 2, Chrissy Ransome had the most votes but did not reach the 50% needed to win outright. Only two votes separate the second- and third-place candidates, so the final count will decide who advances to a runoff. Places 1 and 5 are both headed to December runoffs. Hancock said the final count is set for Tuesday, Nov. 10, and the county canvass is Nov. 13.

No candidate has requested a recount. A tie triggers an automatic recount. Otherwise, a candidate must request one and pay the associated fee.
