The Salvation Army Tyler Corps kicked off its 2026 Angel Tree and Red Kettle campaigns with a ribbon cutting inside Broadway Square Mall on Friday. The Tyler Texas Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary (SAWA) hosted the event, which started at 10 a.m. Volunteers and local Salvation Army leaders took part.
The campaigns collect money and donations to provide gifts and support programs for low-income individuals and families through the holidays and the following year. Residents can give through the Red Kettle Campaign until Dec. 24 by dropping donations into more than 40 kettle buckets around the city or by sending money through QR codes. The Tyler Corps set a goal of $500,000 for this season.
Capt. Kristin Coriston, pastor and administrator at the Tyler Corps, said many families have taken part in the kettle tradition for generations. She said people often share memories of giving through the Salvation Army when they were younger.
