Bay City ISD voters approved two propositions on Tuesday, according to preliminary election results released by the district. Proposition A passed with 70.40% of the vote, and Proposition B received 54.68%. The Bay City ISD Board of Trustees will canvass the votes on Nov. 9, and the results will become official after that.
Proposition A allows the district to replace 12 temporary disaster pennies adopted in August 2025. The district estimates it will generate $3.6 million a year for its maintenance and operations budget, or nearly $18 million over five years. Proposition B authorizes about $8 million in bonds to refinance existing facility loans. The district expects this to free up about $1.6 million a year for day-to-day expenses.
The district said the measures are meant to address rising costs, declining enrollment and state funding shortfalls. Superintendent Chris Townsend thanked voters and members of the district's Strategic Planning Committee for helping inform residents about the propositions. "We are grateful to the voters of Bay City," Townsend said in a statement.
