Residents of Dimmit and La Salle counties voted to join the taxing district of Southwest Texas College. The partnership is meant to bring technical and workforce opportunities to rural areas, and the college would receive more revenue in return.
In La Salle County, 777 voters, over 52 percent, approved the annexation. 711 voters, or 47.78 percent, voted against it.
In Dimmit County, 1,734 residents voted yes.
