Waller County commissioners approved plans for 24 additional homesites in Lakes of Cane Island, a neighborhood between Morton and Clay roads, according to Covering Katy News. The new section, Section 9, covers about 11 acres. The neighborhood is part of a larger development expected to have about 540 homes.

Commissioners approved the layout of the lots and accepted a construction bond, which helps protect the county if required improvements are not completed. County Engineer J. Ross McCall recommended approval. The plans were first scheduled for Oct. 14, then withdrawn and returned for approval Oct. 28.

Three builders are offering homes in the neighborhood: Perry Homes, Drees Custom Homes and Chesmar Homes. According to the community's website, homes start in the mid-$400,000s. Prices for the Section 9 homes have not been announced. The county's approval does not mean homes have been built, and no start date for construction in Section 9 has been announced.
