The Junkyard Pearl in Clear Lake Shores sells clothing, jewelry, accessories, home decor, gifts and vintage and handmade pieces. The shop opened in November 2023. Owner Lauryn Abt said the store has a wide mix of products and a colorful atmosphere.
Abt said her interest in vintage goods came from her childhood. Her mother ran boutiques and her grandfather dealt in antiques. Before opening the shop, Abt sold at traveling shows in Round Top. After moving to the area, she saw a chance to combine shopping with the restaurants and bars already drawing people there.
Abt said she looks for items that are colorful, well made and distinctive. She said she is planning a second location and a warehouse that would let her clean up and stage the existing space. The shop has five full-time employees, and Abt said she hopes to add more so she can focus on creative work.
