The library's youth department hosted a five-week Play & Learn Workshop this month for families with children ages 1 to 3. Parents and caregivers met other families and child development professionals while children played with age-appropriate toys and took part in a sensory art activity each week. The library said it will announce registration for future sessions next spring.

On Oct. 24, library staff took the Bookmobile to the community's Boerne Boo event. Costumed children and families received treats and joined a game, and visitors could step inside the Bookmobile, browse its collection and take books home.

Two November programs are coming up. On Friday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m., families of all ages can help braid a rag rug inspired by Sophie Blackall's book "Story Rug." The rug will be displayed at the Kuhlmann-King Historic House Museum. Participants may bring fabric scraps from home, and some will be provided. On Saturday, Nov. 7, at 10:30 a.m., a creative outdoor program will be held on the youth department's porch.
