The Iola Lady Bulldogs finished district play with sweeps of Lovelady and Normangee, improving their record to 41-2. The team also celebrated two seniors during the final stretch of the regular season.

Iola will face Frankston at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Buffalo. Coach Jamie McDougald said the team is playing well going into the playoffs and described Frankston as a talented team with a lot of height.

On Oct. 20, Iola beat Lovelady on senior night, honoring outside hitter Cami Hoyle and setter Jenna Jurney, who have both played varsity volleyball all four years of high school. Jurney said she is starting to realize each remaining game could be her last. Hoyle said starting the playoffs after a win gives the team a confidence boost.

Junior Shelbee McKown led the team with 16 kills against Lovelady, and Hoyle had 16 kills against Normangee. Jurney recorded 24 serves against Lovelady with a 100% serving percentage for the match.
