Events honoring military veterans are planned across North Texas on the weekend before Veterans Day and on Wednesday, November 11, according to a published listing. Weekend activities are set for Dallas and Grapevine, with November 11 observances in Fort Worth, Arlington and Bonham.
Carry The Load will hold a Veterans Day Walk along the Katy Trail, with check-in at 8:30 a.m. at Reverchon Park. The organizer said the roughly 3.3-mile walk honors living veterans and is part of its monthlong 100,000 Meter Challenge. Grapevine's Veterans Day Parade starts at 10 a.m., followed by a Veterans Fair. The Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. in downtown Fort Worth. The Texas Veterans Day Parade starts at 5:30 p.m. in Arlington's Entertainment District, the city said.
Two state veterans' homes, in Fort Worth and Bonham, will hold ceremonies at 11 a.m. The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington is offering free general admission on November 11, and a separate luncheon requires registration.
