Two people face charges of injury to a child after a Laredo Police Department investigation into a report of physical abuse of an infant, police said.
According to police, the Department of Family and Protective Services received the report on June 20 from a children's specialty hospital in Corpus Christi. The report alleged the child had non-accidental trauma. The LPD Special Investigations Unit then took over the case.
Police said detectives found enough probable cause to seek arrest warrants for Melanie Arellano, 19, and Raymundo Campos, 20. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, each was served with a warrant charging them with injury to a child, a state jail felony.
