The Mission city council replaced Ann Camarillo on the Cimarron Public Improvement District board at its Tuesday meeting. The council appointed Andrew Todd Gilliland in her place. The request came from New Cimarron Group, LLC, according to the story. Several Cimarron property owners, who did not want to be named, said Gilliland resigned on Wednesday. The Progress Times said its attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.
Group spokesperson Berenice Gonzalez asked the council to remove Camarillo, citing "difficulties in communication." She did not provide proof or specifics. The city bought Cimarron in 2026 for $5 million and sold it to the New Cimarron Group for $2.5 million through the Mission Economic Development Corporation earlier this year. Gonzalez said the group's decision to invest did not depend on public funding.
Gonzalez said the group has stepped away from discussions with the PID board and continues to work with the homeowners' association. Camarillo, who remains HOA president, said, "We want this club to be successful." Ricardo Castro was appointed to the board to represent the new owners. The story says it is not known how the board and the city will fill the vacancy left by Camarillo and Gilliland.
