Today, Nov. 3, is the last day to vote in this year's midterm elections. Ballots include races for Texas governor, U.S. Senate, all 38 U.S. House seats, all 150 Texas House seats and 16 Texas Senate seats. Local ballots may include district judges, county positions, city council seats, school board seats and local propositions. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Travis County, voters may cast a ballot at any local polling site under the countywide polling place program.
Residents in the Lake Travis-Westlake area may see races for U.S. House Districts 10 and 11, Texas Senate District 24, and Texas House Districts 19, 47 and 48. Each polling place must have at least one curbside voting space for people who are physically unable to enter the building because of a disability or injury. Voters who are blind, have a disability or cannot read or write may get help marking their ballot, and voters who do not speak English may use an interpreter.
Voters who run into a problem that cannot be fixed right away, such as a missing photo ID, may cast a provisional ballot. According to the Texas Association of County Election Officials, the voter must sign an affidavit stating they are registered in their county and otherwise eligible. Voters without an approved ID may sign a reasonable impediment declaration and show another form of ID, such as a birth certificate, utility bill or paycheck. Some voters may need to take a photo ID to the local voter registrar's office by Nov. 9. Results will be posted on Community Impact's election page.
