Greenwood beat Ysleta 3-0 in the area round at Pecos High School on Monday. The Rangerettes had earlier beaten Hereford 3-2 in the bi-district round.
Several seniors led the team, including Emily Jones and Maggie Mason. Jones earned game point for Greenwood.
The win is the program's first area championship since 2011, and the first while Greenwood has played in Class 4A. The Rangerettes will play the winner of Stephenville and Springtown in the regional semifinals, scheduled for November 5-7.
