Northeast Texas Community College held an Independence Day picnic on Thursday, July 2, at the Eagle's Nest outside the Student Union Building. Students, faculty, staff, veterans and guests attended.

The event offered free hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips and popsicles. Attendees gathered to honor veterans, active-duty military members and the families who support them. Many wore red, white, blue and camouflage.

JaQuacy Minter, Director of Student Development, said the event was a chance to recognize the sacrifices of veterans, active-duty service members and their families. The college thanked the Student Development and Student Services teams for organizing and hosting the event.
