Isaac Hernandez, Area 6 State Vice President with Mount Pleasant High School's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter, and middle school ambassadors Anna Henry and Mallory Mancera attended Officer Training on June 8-12 at Camp Copass in Denton. Advisers John Whitten and Dana Armstrong also attended.

At the camp, the students met state officers from across Texas. They took part in ropes courses and outdoor team-building activities, learned how to introduce speakers, and planned for the coming school year. That year includes hosting the Fall Area Workshop and Fall Leadership Conference in Mount Pleasant. Hernandez gave a speech on free enterprise to state officers and advisers, using a deck of cards to explain steps toward business success.

Whitten, the State Advisor for Area 6 and FBLA Board President, led a workshop on the history and importance of Texas FBLA and how to run a successful area workshop. He said the camp gave Hernandez a chance to begin networking with state officers and area vice presidents. Whitten said he saw Hernandez grow as a speaker and in preparing an area workshop.

Hernandez will lead the area leadership team, which includes Area 6 President Camauri Adams. Sage Jordan will serve as the Mount Pleasant High School chapter president for the coming year. Middle level FBLA is offered at Wallace Middle School and Mount Pleasant Junior High, and FBLA at Mount Pleasant High School. Those interested can contact Whitten or Armstrong.
