Ken Shetter has stepped down as head of One Safe Place, the Fort Worth family justice center he led since it was founded. He left the role Oct. 5, according to the Fort Worth Report. Joel Glenn, the board chair, is serving as interim CEO of the nonprofit, which is in the Near Southside. The Report said it was unable to reach Glenn before publication.

Shetter told the Report he had been working quietly to leave the organization for some time. He cited health issues and the birth of his first grandchild. Over the past year, he said, he had updated the group's bylaws, which had not been rewritten since it was founded, and set up a C-suite leadership structure. "It was good timing for the organization and good timing for me," he said.

One Safe Place provides safety and support for victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking, along with children and family services. Its building at 1100 Hemphill St. houses offices for more than 25 organizations. The group was created in 2005 as the Safe City Commission.
