Houston Mayor John Whitmire has declared Oct. 29 "Tank" Dell Day in Houston. He announced the proclamation on Wednesday, honoring the Texans wide receiver, who played college football for the University of Houston Cougars.

Dell returned to the field on Sunday in the Texans' overtime loss to the New York Giants. He had been injured in a 2024 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and missed the 2025 NFL season after tearing several ligaments in his knee and dislocating his kneecap, according to the report.

At the ceremony, Dell thanked his coaches, friends and family. He called Houston a second home. Dell is a native of Florida.
