Parents raised concerns at an Oct. 20 attendance rezoning meeting at Eaton High School about proposed Northwest ISD boundaries. They asked how the changes would affect students' friendships, extracurricular activities, transportation and daily routines. Natalie Hultquist, a Northwest ISD eighth grader, said that after last year's middle school changes, many of her friends were moved to another school, and she worries another change could separate them again.

The district says the proposed changes aim to ease overcrowding at its three high schools and prepare for the opening of Davis High School, its fourth, next year. Some parents have asked whether the district has considered how the changes would affect students who move between schools.

District spokesperson Anthony Tosie said Oct. 27 that Northwest ISD is considering revisions based on community feedback and is reaching out directly to affected neighborhoods. The district hopes to notify families of any changes by Nov. 2. Trustees are scheduled to vote on the new boundaries Nov. 9.
