Students and staff at South Hi Mount Elementary School in Fort Worth are temporarily moving to a vacant building at the former Western Hills Primary, the Fort Worth Independent School District confirmed. The school is on Birchman Avenue on the city's west side. The temporary site is about five miles away, farther west off Interstate 30 and Cherry Lane.

According to a letter to families from the school's PTA, the move is a precautionary measure following an on-site engineering assessment and recommendation. The letter said the affected part of the building has been cleared while the school determines next steps. No return date was given. The note said a decision would be made in the coming weeks.

According to a statement on the South Hi Mount Elementary PTA Facebook page, a parent meeting is planned for Monday, Nov. 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
