Election day for the Nov. 3 general election is underway in Hays County. Eligible voters can cast ballots in state, federal, county and city elections from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the Hays County Elections Department. Voters can find polling locations and wait times on the county's website.

The Elections Department said nearly 42% of registered voters cast ballots during early voting. As of Nov. 2, 85,183 people had voted early out of 204,061 registered voters in the county.

Texas law requires voters to show one of seven forms of identification at the polls, according to earlier reporting by Community Impact. Examples include a Texas driver's license, a Texas personal ID card, a U.S. military ID card with a photo and a U.S. passport. The voter registration deadline for the midterms was Oct. 5.

Races on the ballot include Hays County judge, two county commissioners court precincts, and mayor and council seats in San Marcos, Kyle and Buda. A full sample ballot is available on the county website.
