Midland ISD is partnering with the Scharbauer Foundation to strengthen student support systems and expand efforts to create safe, supportive learning environments, according to a news release. The district will receive $200,000 in funding over three school years, from 2026 through 2029, for initiatives focused on student well-being, school safety and long-term sustainability.
The Safe and Supported Schools Community of Practice is led by the H. E. Butt Foundation, in collaboration with the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and the Texas Association of School Business Officials. It gives participating districts training, technical assistance and data analysis. The three-year work will focus on strengthening support systems, aligning funding sources, using data to evaluate prevention strategies, and building partnerships with students, educators and families.
Midland ISD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard said students who feel supported and connected at school are better positioned to succeed. She thanked the Scharbauer Foundation for supporting the work. During the first year, district leaders will take part in collaborative learning sessions and targeted technical assistance to assess existing resources.
