Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton had planned to end his campaign at the Alamo, the site his "Come and Take It" bus tour centered on. On Saturday, two days before the planned final rally, his campaign appeared to cancel that event. It added Monday events in Conroe, at 11 a.m., and Allen, at 5:30 p.m. The Allen event is at a restaurant about 300 miles from the Alamo. His campaign did not immediately respond to questions about why the plans changed.

The Alamo Trust, which oversees the landmark, told Texas Public Radio on Friday that it was unaware of any plans for Paxton to host an event on the grounds. The Alamo's rules generally prohibit political events there. Paxton's final push also included other canceled or rescheduled events, including stops in El Paso, Tyler, Texarkana and Mission.

Paxton is in a close race with Democrat James Talarico. In a statement on Friday, Talarico said Paxton was canceling rallies and hoping Elon Musk would help fund his campaign. Talarico referred to more than $200 million Musk has spent in the race on Paxton's behalf.
