According to a Texas Observer report, a Travis County judge's order has identified the Republican Women's Caucus (RWC) Fund and John Braun as the names behind text messages sent earlier this month to Texans. The messages offered resources to transgender students. The Observer also reported that about three million mailers with similar information were sent.

The Texas Transgender Student Union, a Wyoming-based LLC registered anonymously in September, was reportedly behind the mailers, which directed readers to the website of the Transgender Education Network of Texas. That group denied sending the messages or mailers. In a court filing, the LLC said it "is not going to engage in any further text or mail communications."

On Tuesday, Judge Jan Soifer ordered a deposition of a representative of the LLC and denied its motion to dismiss. She also ordered Infobip, a text-messaging company that sent the messages for a client, to answer written questions. Attorney Chris Hilton, who represents the LLC and Infobip's client, said the push to reveal his client's identity before the election is politically motivated and would cause harm. Infobip filed written answers in a court document signed Wednesday.
