The Houston Astros named Randy Flores as their general manager in a press release Friday evening. The team parted ways with Dana Brown in late August.

Flores, 51, served as an assistant general manager for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2019 to 2026. He joined the Cardinals as director of scouting in 2015. According to his University of Southern California biography, Flores pitched eight seasons in the majors for the Cardinals, Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins. He retired in 2012 and joined the USC baseball coaching staff in 2013.

Astros owner and chairman Jim Crane said the team was impressed with Flores's background in scouting and player acquisition. Flores said he was grateful for the opportunity and thanked the Cardinals organization. Flores and Crane are scheduled to speak at 10 a.m. Monday at Daikin Park.
