Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice has filed for bankruptcy in Texas, according to court documents. An attorney for a plaintiff said Rice's Chiefs paychecks were being garnished and that most of what he owes is still unpaid.

The attorney, March Lenahan, said his client, Kathryn Kuykendall, suffered multiple injuries when the Uber she was in was struck by Rice's rented Lamborghini in a March 2024 crash in Dallas. Prosecutors said the car was traveling 119 mph moments before impact. Kuykendall and Rice agreed to a $1 million civil settlement in April 2025, and a judge signed a judgment for Rice to pay that amount plus interest and attorney fees.

Rice pleaded guilty in July 2025 to two third-degree felony charges related to the collision. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years' probation. The NFL said Rice caused the crash while driving erratically. Rice, 26, has played in five of the Chiefs' seven games this season and has 20 catches for 243 yards and two touchdowns.
