Josh Gruberman has turned his home in Carrollton's Coyote Ridge neighborhood into "Zombie Labs," a free haunted attraction with zombies, characters and a subway car. Gruberman said he wanted to outdo his displays from past years. Visitors first see a 15-foot animatronic outside, then move to a real subway car parked around the driveway.
From there, the attraction continues into the garage, where Gruberman built a biohazard-themed haunt with characters and a storyline. One character, Doctor Illume, is part of a lab that Gruberman described as having blown up and now falling apart. Gruberman said he started the display as a hobby and that the scares are meant as free Halloween fun for neighbors.
The attraction will have a street closure near the home this weekend to make it easier for families and trick-or-treaters to get there. Gruberman said the display has also helped him get to know people in the neighborhood.
