Garland police are investigating a shooting that killed an 18-year-old man on Monday night. Officers were sent to the 100 block of South Barnes Drive just before 10:45 p.m. There they found an injured man, who told officers he had been in an altercation with two other males when someone fired gunshots. Officers later found an unresponsive man on the ground. Garland Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. Officials identified him as Brandon Eris Robinson Jr., 18.
Detectives determined that the man officers first found fired the gun that struck Robinson. Police said a third man fled the area after the shooting. Police have not released the names of the man who fired the gun or the third man. Detectives have identified the third man and are working to get his account of what happened. It remains unclear what led to the altercation.
Investigators believe the men knew each other and do not consider the shooting a random incident. Authorities have not filed charges against the man initially located by officers.
