The town of Argyle said TxDOT has agreed to improve the Crawford Road intersection beneath I-35W now, rather than waiting for a larger regional highway project. The town said the two-lane passage under the freeway is a bottleneck, especially with Robson Ranch Road being widened to four lanes on the Denton side. The planned work includes added turning capacity and traffic signals on both sides of the freeway, replacing the current stop sign setup.
The town also said work has started on Hwy 377. It said it knows road construction can be frustrating, but that the projects are needed as traffic keeps growing in the area. Argyle said it will keep working with TxDOT and share updates as the projects move forward.
Argyle said progress continues on the Argyle Nature Trail. The town also said it is assembling a resident-led committee to give design input for a future Main Street. Main Street will be created by renaming Cook Street at Hwy 377 and routing it south past the Argyle Marketplace construction to the intersection of Myrtle and FM 407. The town said it wants the area to include walkable spaces and independent businesses that fit the character of the town.
