Texans voted on Election Day in a governor's race and a U.S. Senate race that have drawn national attention and heavy spending. CBS Austin reported that both contests were expected to be close, with polls showing each within a few percentage points.
CBS Austin said the U.S. Senate race between Talarico and Paxton has seen more money invested than any other U.S. Senate race in history.
Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters who were in line or waiting to enter at 7 p.m. were allowed to vote after polls closed. Voters were reminded to bring an accepted photo ID and to put their phones away in the voting room. For mail-in ballots returned in person, only the voter could deliver the ballot at the Travis County Elections Building before 7 p.m.
