H-E-B has opened a new store on the Far East Side near Converse, at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Loop 1604 East. The 125,000-square-foot location is expected to create more than 400 jobs, the company said.

General Manager Will Tate, who grew up in the community and has worked for H-E-B for more than 30 years, said he looks forward to working with the store's team to serve and celebrate local residents. The store offers a bakery with fresh tortillas, a Sushiya section, a meat market with Prime and Wagyu beef, and a seafood department. It also includes a True Texas BBQ restaurant with indoor seating, a pharmacy with drive-thru service, curbside parking and home delivery.

The area near Converse has seen about 17% more residents since 2020 and is expected to grow by another 10% in the next four years, according to the report. H-E-B said the store aims to serve East Side neighborhoods and commuters from Seguin, La Vernia and nearby communities. To mark the opening, the company donated $25,000 to Boysville San Antonio, which helps children and young adults who have faced abuse, neglect or family challenges.
