In Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District, voters approved Proposition A, a refunding bond proposal to refinance debt payments tied to hurricane disaster and other maintenance tax notes. Proposition A passed with 3,420 votes, or 52.33%, while 3,115 votes, or 47.67%, were cast against it. The district said it borrowed $15 million after Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and has repaid $7.5 million since then. According to information from the district, about $70 million in damage remains, and the district also reported damage from Tropical Storm Imelda in 2019.

The district said Proposition A will allow it to move existing maintenance debt from the Maintenance and Operations fund to the Interest and Sinking fund. This would free up additional money for district operations each year without raising the current tax rate, the district said.
