Upshur County voters will cast ballots Tuesday in the statewide election. Offices on the ballot include U.S. senator, U.S. House, governor and seats in the state Legislature, among others. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 15 locations throughout the county. Early in-person voting at the Gilmer Civic Center on U.S. 271 runs through Friday.

All candidates for county office in Upshur County are unopposed Republicans. Attention statewide has focused on the U.S. Senate race, which includes Republican Ken Paxton, Democrat James Talarico and Libertarian Ted Brown. Brown has reportedly become possibly the first Libertarian candidate for Texas statewide office to run television advertising. Paxton defeated Republican John Cornyn in this year's Republican runoff.

In the governor's race, Republican Greg Abbott is seeking re-election against Democrat Gina Hinojosa and Libertarian Pat Dixon. In the state Legislature, Republican State Sen. Bryan Hughes faces Democrat Laticia Ambroz, and Republican State Rep. Cole Hefner faces Democrat Hector Garza.
