The UTPB women's basketball team had almost entirely new players last year. This season, 12 players are returning, compared with two a year ago. The Falcons went 15-14 last season and reached the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
Head coach Rae Boothe said the team is in a better position than last year. "It's kind of the opposite of last year," she said. She said she was most excited about the returning players and said the team understands that consistency matters. Boothe named Mikalah Buckley, Madison Walters, Rihanna DeLeon and Ja'Nya Thomas as players who are coming back.
Boothe said the team will need to stay healthy and fresh for three games next week. She also said she expects the team to be good on defense and described the roster as guard heavy. She noted that one returning player did not play last year.
