The Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County Senior Life Center is moving closer to completion. The organization recently held its first official board meeting inside the building at 1780 Airport Road, near John King Boulevard. Groundbreaking began in August 2025.
Plans call for a commercial kitchen that will prepare hot meals for homebound seniors, a dining area for seniors and families, and offices for staff and support agencies. The facility will also offer social activities, educational programs, access to community resources and volunteer service. The group serves seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and caregivers. Organizers plan to make the space available for venue rentals when it is not used for client services.
The project received a $1.29 million challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation of Midland to support the organization's $7 million philanthropic campaign, according to campaign coordinator Carrie Pickell.
