The Wise County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers responded Tuesday to a report of a dead person on Hickory Street near Rhome. WCSO Chief Deputy Eric Debus said a passerby found the man's body along the road, just east of Rhome city limits and west of Strawberry Lane, and reported it around 6:30 a.m.
Based on evidence at the scene, the WCSO and the Rangers opened a homicide investigation. Debus said the suspected cause of death has not been revealed, but it was apparent the death was not from natural causes.
The man is described as a Hispanic juvenile or young adult male. In a social media post Wednesday, the WCSO released a photo of him and asked anyone who recognizes him to help. Anyone with information can call the WCSO at 940-627-5971. The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing and no further information is available.
