The Nave Museum has bought a building at 412 N. Main St. in downtown Victoria for a "second campus." The museum made the purchase on Oct. 30. The building is 7,700 square feet, according to the story.

The museum's original building, the Royston Nave Memorial Building at 306 W. Commercial St., opened in 1932. Museum leaders said its interior has become cramped for growing education programs. Executive director Tim Hornback and board member Chris Plyler said the site has limited parking and cannot add more because of state highway safety rules. Plyler called the museum "landlocked."

Hornback said the museum must raise at least $3 million for a two-year construction project to convert the North Main building. Work is expected to start next year. After the new campus opens, the original building will close for a year of renovation. Hornback said both campuses would be open in years four and five.
