Soon after polls closed at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3, residents took seats in front of the Uvalde Leader-News whiteboards, facing away from the county courthouse. People brought lawn chairs and blankets to the pavement to watch the results come in.

The gathering is a 94-year Uvalde tradition. Some residents stayed past 10 p.m. as newspaper staff posted results.
