Work on the new Ector County Courthouse parking garage is moving forward as installation of precast concrete components begins. The county said the work marks an important stage in building the garage structure.
The components are made and staged in San Antonio. They are sent to Odessa in groups of about 20 truckloads at a time, then delivered and installed on site. The county said this lets materials arrive in an organized order.
Unlike methods that pour and cure concrete on site, precast pieces are made ahead of time and arrive ready for placement. The county said this lets crews assemble the structure as materials arrive.
