The City of Lindale will host an adoption and microchip event on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 501 Blackberry Blvd. The city is holding the event with the Smith County Adoption Center and Tyler Junior College veterinary technology students.
Holli Jones, coordinator of the Smith County Animal Shelter, said the shelter will bring mostly small to medium-sized dogs and a couple of puppies. Jones said Smith County does not currently charge an adoption fee and pays for spaying or neutering and rabies services for animals adopted from the shelter.
Jones said the Tyler Junior College students will provide microchipping. She said a microchip can help return a lost dog to its owner when the chip is scanned. Jones also invited visitors who are not planning to adopt. "Even if you're not wanting to adopt, please come out and love on them," she said.
